As everyone will probably be aware the Scottish Government has published a route map setting out a phased approach to easing lockdown restrictions while still suppressing coronavirus. For anyone interested in reading it the document can be found here. As a result of that publication, our governing body, Bowls Scotland, has published guidance for "Getting back on the Green". That guidance can be found here
Our Club Committee met following the guidance being issued to come to a view as to whether we could, at this stage, operate safely and in line with the issued Rules and Guidance.
Whilst we are all keen to get back to some form of playing as soon as possible, the health and wellbeing of our members must remain our paramount consideration. Whilst Bowls Scotland has acted quickly and helpfully with its guidance, the Committee has some reservations at present that the conditions put forward for "safe bowling" may prove very diffcult to adhere to and enforce.
As a result, it has been agreed that the Green will remain closed during Phase 1 of the Government's timetable. The Committee will meet again as we move into Phase 2 and we will review the position, taking on board the advice being given by the Scottish Government, at that stage.
Whilst we appreciate that some of our members may be disappointed by our decision, we consider this is right thing to do at this time and in the interests of the Club as a whole.
